The rod that connects to the switch fits ...</title><content type='html'>Stuart, &lt;br /&gt;The rod that connects to the switch fits through a piece of metal on the vent and is held in place with a spring or pin.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With the front grill/screen off, open the vent fully. You should be able to look under the vent and see where the rod comes through and has a hook that fits into the vent.
